Job summary

Prestwick Aerosystems Limited, part of Airbus, is seeking a Senior Estimator in Prestwick, Ayrshire. The role is full-time, site-based with a 37-hour week and a salary from £44,348. Occasional travel and security checks apply.

You will prepare quotes for new business, liaising with departments to gather data and deliver costed estimates for aircraft components. Strong communication, commercial awareness and understanding of contract terms are essential.

Prestwick Aerosystems continues Ayrshire’s long-standing aircraft manufacturing tradition. From our Prestwick site, we manufacture aircraft wing structures used on Airbus commercial aircraft worldwide.

How You Will Contribute To The Team

You will:

• Allocate tasks and provide direction and guidance to Estimators as required for the provision of estimates for the construction of competitive quotes for new business and customers ranging from detail parts to major aircraft components and projects.
• Compile estimates where full engineering definition is available such as drawings and Bills of Materials.
• Compile estimates using parametric or historical data with reasoned assumptions where minimum engineering data is available.
• Present estimates, clearly highlighting any assumptions, to others that may not be familiar with the data and issues so that they are readily understood.
• Liaise with other departments, functions and stakeholders in order to obtain and analyse all required data to complete estimates and quotations.
• Provide an estimating service to the Projects and Functions for engineering change and cost reduction opportunities.

Requirements For The Role

• Extensive - Systematic and uniform approach to complete tasks in timely manner.
• Adequate knowledge to undertake job role with potential to develop further through on job and vocational training.
• Developed commercial and financial awareness.
• Ability to communicate written and orally both internally within the business and externally with customers. Ability to manage complex tasks and small projects.
• Understanding of Contract Terms and legal requirements. Knowledge of export control of data and product requirements.
