Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Associate/Associate Environmental and Sustainability Consultant to lead environmental assessments across UK projects. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, coordinating EIA processes, managing budgets, and mentoring junior staff.

You will influence clients, stakeholders, and regulators, integrating sustainability into design and supporting net zero goals with nature-based solutions. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Chartership through a relevant organisation
• Demonstrable knowledge of EIA and relevant legislation in the UK. Experience of working on DCO schemes would be beneficial
• A successful track record in project and construction environmental management, working with design teams to deliver large infrastructure projects
• Flexibility in your approach to work, available to spend time away from your home base as needed
• The ability to manage your own work and that of others, whilst being an integral member of a wider project team
• Line management experience would be advantageous
• Commercial awareness and experience with managing budgets as part of project delivery
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Excellent ‘self-starting’ capabilities

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate projects from early stage feasibility and environmental appraisal to full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as part of planning applications across regimes
• Manage project teams, undertake scoping, preparation and delivery of environmental appraisals and assessments
• Program environmental impact assessment processes and manage environmental risk
• Coordinate environmental, social and sustainability specialists and ensure high-quality deliverables
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff and conduct project reviews
• Support contract management, budgeting, and business development activities
