Job Description

By joining us, you will work daily with technical experts within our established Environmental Impact (EIA) team, which comprises over 165 staff across the UK and Ireland. We are a founding member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) EIA Quality Mark, aligning with our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy.

As we are a national team, we are flexible regarding office location, including offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington, as well as our flexible hybrid working model.

This position offers involvement in large-scale development projects such as:

  • Energy generation projects, including carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, and renewables (large-scale solar, floating offshore wind)
  • Energy distribution and transmission projects (including the Great Grid Upgrade)
  • Carbon capture pipelines
  • Strategic national and regional rail projects
  • Highway improvements and greenway projects
  • Regeneration projects, including port developments
  • Developments in ecommerce, minerals and waste, water, defense, aviation, commercial/residential, and industrial sectors
Responsibilities
  • Provide Expertise: Coordinate environmental inputs to EIA screening and scoping reports, environmental assessments/Environmental Statements, and supporting documents, including technical review of specialist chapters. Involved across all project stages, from early strategy development to scheme operation/maintenance. Work across various consenting regimes (DCO, TCPA, TWA, hybrid Bill, etc.).
  • Ensure Quality: Maintain high standards in all deliverables with a keen eye for detail.
  • Project Management: Develop project management skills by coordinating resources and budgets.
  • Collaborate: Work within integrated design teams to improve environmental outcomes, identify impact mitigation solutions, and explore benefits.
  • Client Contact: Engage directly with clients and internal teams.
  • Growth: Promote AECOM’s environmental services and support business development and proposal writing.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant environmental discipline (Masters preferred) and professional membership.
  • Experience in EIA consultancy, including report preparation and technical review.
  • Understanding of relevant consenting regimes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams.
  • Developing project management skills.
  • Commitment to innovation and professional development.
  • Experience with DCO and/or TWAO regimes is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and report writing skills, stakeholder engagement confidence.
