Job summary

Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is seeking three Senior Environment Protection Officers on a permanent, full‑time basis. You will supervise a team within the Compliance Function and help lead on regulatory processes, environmental performance, and enforcement actions.

You will work across regions including Falkirk, Alloa, Stirling, Perth, Glasgow Central and Lanarkshire, delivering guidance to internal and external stakeholders while promoting a respectful, inclusive workplace and

Qualifications

• Relevant experience or qualification equivalent to SCQF Level 8-10.
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills, ability to build and maintain good internal and external regulatory relationships
• A comprehensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of the related legislation, policy, and guidance as relates to pollution control, event response, compliance and enforcement
• Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to spot problems and risks and put measures in place to prevent or mitigate them
• Great people skills, with the ability to support, develop, and coach officers in delivering work and engage with key teams to gain support from others

Responsibilities

• Allocate and supervise work for a team and monitor the quality of work to ensure excellent customer service.
• Oversee and lead on contentious, complex, or sensitive regulatory activities and enforcement where necessary.
• Provide guidance and regulatory advice to internal and external stakeholders on non-clear-cut issues.
• Lead by example and promote values and behaviours to support a positive working culture.
