Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Engineering Surveyor to work with Murphy Applied Engineering.

Our engineering teams encompass a multi-disciplined range of skills, adding value across sectors, and advancing digital construction, engineering innovation, and sustainable design to deliver intelligent, economical solutions.

Under Murphy Applied Engineering, our in-house teams include civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical, and process engineers. They design both permanent and temporary works for projects across locations and serve as trusted advisors for Murphy colleagues and external clients.

We seek a Senior/Engineering Surveyor to support our Geomatics team in enhancing earthworks management and machine control services. This role offers a chance to innovate, optimize workflows, and expand our in-house geospatial capabilities.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Engineering Surveyor

1. Perform earthworks volumetric calculations, including reduced dig comparisons, stockpile volumes, and cut-fill balancing.
2. Interpret architectural, civil, and structural drawings for bulk earthworks modelling and 3D Machine Control system integration.
3. Use terrain surface modelling software (Civil 3D or N4CE) to design slopes, embankments, and alignments.
4. Work with TIN models for surface analysis and validation.
5. Support geospatial workflows involving point cloud processing, UAV LiDAR, and photogrammetry.
6. Conduct site surveys to improve data accuracy and internal utilization.
7. Familiarity with 3D Machine Control systems (Leica MC1, Trimble Earthworks) and remote platforms (Leica ConX, Trimble Works Manager).
8. Understand GNSS correction sources (GNSS Base Stations, UHF radio, VRS networks like Trimble VRS or Leica SmartNet).
9. Proficiency in surveying equipment (GNSS rovers, Total Stations).
