Job description

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + 10% performance bonus, + regional allowance

Working location: Nationwide, Homebased

Employment type: Full-time, Permanent

Job summary:

As a Senior Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing risk across NHBC’s warranty products and building control services. You will ensure projects meet all customer, statutory, and technical requirements. The role requires a Registered Building Inspector with at least 2F/Class 3 registration.

This senior-level position demands technical excellence, proactive risk management, and strong collaboration to deliver safe, high-quality developments.

What you’ll be doing
  1. Assess high-risk applications, supervise and support less experienced inspectors, and advise on critical technical elements throughout the construction lifecycle.
  2. Work closely with developers, builders, and their professional teams from design to completion to ensure compliance with NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, and national requirements.
  3. Manage activities on complex residential developments, typically over 11 metres in height, providing expert guidance on building control and warranty matters.
  4. Ensure compliance with NHBC and HSE safety requirements.
  5. Support inspection staff with expert advice, inspecting high-risk/complex building elements, and reviewing progress.
  6. Survey and assess buildings for Buildmark Conversions, including advising, reporting, and determining insurance coverage.
  7. Possess knowledge of forensic investigations, defect identification, and repairs.
What we’re looking for
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and warranty risk management.
  • Extensive construction industry experience, especially in Building Control.
  • Experience in plan appraisal for residential and non-residential developments.
  • Ability to guide on Building Regulations & NHBC Standards.
  • Proactive in resolving customer complaints and managing conflicts.
  • Chartered membership of a professional institution.
  • Relevant accredited HND/HNC qualification or substantial industry experience.
  • Registered Building Inspector with minimum 2F and Class 3 BSR registration.
