Job summary

Pilgrim's Europe, Spalding site, is seeking a Senior Engineering Supervisor to lead on‑shift engineering operations, driving reliability and continuous improvement across the site.

You’ll supervise a multi‑skilled team, respond quickly to breakdowns, and ensure compliance with safety and food standards while maintaining high overall equipment performance.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained with a recognised Mechanical or Electrical qualification.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an FMCG or chilled manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience supervising or leading engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of PPM systems, plant reliability and downtime reduction.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety, safe systems of work and contractor control.
• IT literate (experience with systems such as Holistech beneficial).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of engineers across Abattoir, Butchery & Site Services
• Drive a culture of proactive maintenance and continuous improvement
• Ensure quick and effective response to breakdowns, minimising downtime
• Monitor and deliver KPIs including downtime, PPM, and work order completion
• Oversee daily engineering service sheets and shift performance
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene standards
• Manage contractor control, permits and on‑site activity
• Support audits and deliver associated action plans
• Lead shift briefs and ensure strong communication across teams
• Act as a key point of contact on shift and deputise for the Engineering Manager
