Job summary

Facilities Management Intrapreneur Ltd. in London seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering services for client occupied buildings. Role covers management of electrical and mechanical plant, PM and reactive works, and day-to-day operations.

You will oversee a team of day and shift engineers, direct contractors, and support mobilisation on new contracts. A recognised apprenticeship / ONC/BTEC in electrical or mechanical engineering is essential, with ~5 years in a similar environment.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship / ONC / BTEC Electrical/Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in business-critical engineering systems.
• Strong people management skills.
• Well organised with good task management capabilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literate.
• 5 years' experience in a related environment.
• Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Able to adapt work patterns at short notice to meet client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and ensure that contractual commitments are met and exceeded.
• Ensure opportunities for strategic development of the contract are exploited.
• Ensure safe working conditions and that health and safety processes are implemented and reviewed.
• Ensure contracts are staffed by fully competent teams.
• Develop contract financial plans for revenue, profit, and cost management.
• Maintain customer focus and strong relationships with client contacts.
• Support the sales process through solutions development and presentations.
• Direct and supervise day-to-day operations and maintenance of electrical and mechanical plant services.
• Oversee daily management of the engineering team (day and shift engineers).
• Direct contractors and subcontractors ensuring compliance with working practices.
• Collect weekly building load readings and perform UPS/HV/LV load assessments.
• Update shift log system and log subcontractor visits and incidents.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly engineering reports highlighting significant events and concerns.
• Escalate any building/facilities issues to senior management as required.
• Monitor cleanliness and maintenance of plant rooms and equipment.
• Assist project team with technical and operational problem-solving.
