Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking a Smart Buildings Engineering Manager to own the Central London portfolio's engineering strategy and daily operations in a high-profile commercial property.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, drive tech-enabled transformation with BMS, IoT, and energy analytics, and manage landlord relationships and governance stakeholders at a senior level.

Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical engineering qualification.
• 8+ years in building services with 4+ years in senior leadership managing multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong track record with BMS platforms and smart building tech.

Responsibilities

• Setting engineering strategy and standards across a prestigious commercial property.
• Managing shift leaders, technicians, and day engineers, resourcing and development.
• Leading tech-enabled transformation: BMS optimisation, predictive maintenance, energy analytics.
• Overseeing PPM and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, HVAC and life safety systems.
• Acting as senior engineering contact for client, landlord and governance stakeholders.
• Owning budgets, contractor performance and capital planning input.

Smart Buildings Engineering Manager - Critical Commercial Portfolio (Central London)

We're hiring an Engineering Manager to take strategic and tactical ownership of engineering operations across a high‑profile commercial office environment.

This isn't a bums-on‑seats management role, you'll be driving the integration of smart building tech (BMS, IoT, predictive maintenance, analytics) into every layer of day‑to‑day operations, while managing shift teams, landlord relationships, and stakeholder expectations at a senior level.

Package

• £80,000 basic + bonus
• £5,000 car allowance
• Pension
• Monday-Friday (no shift work)

What you'll be doing

• Managing shift leaders, technicians, and day engineers, resourcing, performance, development
• Leading tech-enabled transformation: BMS optimisation, predictive maintenance, energy analytics
• Overseeing PPM and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and life safety systems
• Acting as senior engineering point of contact for client, landlord, and stakeholder governance
• Owning engineering budgets, contractor performance, and capital planning input

What you'll need

• Electrical or Mechanical engineering qualification
• 8+ years in building services engineering, with 4+ in senior leadership managing multi‑disciplinary teams
• Strong track record with BMS platforms (Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium, Schneider, JCI) and smart building tech
• Experience managing landlord relationships in complex, multi‑tenanted commercial environments
• Solid commercial acumen - budgets, procurement, contractor management
• Professional membership (CIBSE/IET/IMechE) and NEBOSH/IOSH desirable but not essential.
