Our client is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join a dynamic team dedicated to excellence in transportation engineering.

Role Overview

The Senior Traffic Engineer will support the Engineering Delivery Team Leader by providing expertise in traffic management and safety engineering within the Borough. The role involves developing the Council's Integrated Transport capital programme, investigating road accidents, and overseeing the design, safety audits, and implementation of local safety and traffic management schemes.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Develop and manage the Integrated Transport programme, including assessments, investigations, feasibility studies, consultations, and formulation of briefs for implementation. Ensure schemes are delivered on time, within budget, and comply with legislative requirements.
2. Respond to correspondence, attend site visits and meetings with various stakeholders, and prepare necessary documents and data.
3. Analyze data, produce detailed reports on crash and casualty levels, and develop drawings and schedules for safety schemes.
4. Assess and prioritize schemes based on funding from various sources, including the Local Transport Plan and Capital and Revenue allocations.
5. Manage, develop, and oversee the performance of Engineers, Technicians, and Trainees.
6. Manage safety audits of highway improvement schemes, develop policies, and recommend improvements.
7. Prepare reports, briefing notes, and technical drawings related to traffic and highway issues.
8. Represent the Department and Council at various levels as required.
