Job summary

SSE is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to shape engineering strategy for a major offshore wind project in the UK. You will lead design development from early development through key investment and delivery milestones, coordinating across multidisciplinary teams to balance technical performance, cost, and risk.

This role requires strong leadership, excellent stakeholder engagement, and ability to drive high-quality outputs across interfaces with commercial, procurement, and delivery

Qualifications

Significant experience leading the design development of large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in direct and matrix structures.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent planning and organisational capabilities.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering strategy, design basis, and programme across the project lifecycle.
Build and coordinate a high-performing multidisciplinary design team.
Act as accountable lead for engineering design, manage interfaces.
Oversee consultants and ensure high-quality outputs and docs.
Report to senior stakeholders on progress, risks, and decisions.
