Job summary

SSE plc is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to shape the engineering strategy for a major offshore wind project in the UK. You will lead the design development, coordinating a multidisciplinary team to deliver robust and commercially competitive outcomes.

The role requires balancing technical excellence with cost and risk considerations, while engaging with project, commercial, procurement and delivery teams to drive progress toward CfD milestones.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading design development of large-scale, high-value energy or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in direct and matrix structures.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the project's engineering strategy, design basis and programme.
• Build and coordinate a high-performing multidisciplinary design team across the project lifecycle.
• Act as accountable lead for engineering design development and manage interfaces across functions.
• Oversee engineering consultants and third-party organisations to ensure high-quality outputs.
• Provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders on progress, risks and decisions.
