Job summary

Derbyshire County Council seeks a Senior Engineer – Delivery Management (Flooding & Drainage) to lead operational delivery of drainage and flood risk interventions across Derbyshire. You will manage a team of delivery officers, oversee planning and execution from minor repairs to major capital schemes, and ensure projects meet specifications, budgets and timelines.

Role requires strong leadership, technical expertise and a commitment to safety and sustainability, with hybrid working options

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience delivering drainage and flood risk projects.
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015, NEC contracts and best practice delivery.
• Ability to monitor budgets, drive value for money, and manage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of drainage and flood risk projects across the county.
• Manage site investigations and develop technical solutions for complex drainage issues.
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and health and safety regulations.
• Oversee procurement, contract administration, and supplier performance.
• Liaise with water companies, the Environment Agency, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor budgets, track expenditure, and ensure value for money.
• Champion innovation and sustainable practices in drainage delivery.
• Deputise for the Delivery Manager in strategic forums and public engagements.
