Job summary

Protect Derbyshire’s Roads: Senior Engineer – Flooding & Drainage Delivery is a senior operational role overseeing drainage projects and flood risk interventions across Derbyshire. You will lead a team, manage site investigations, ensure safety compliance, and drive value for money in delivery of capital schemes.

You’ll work with internal teams, contractors, and external partners to meet specifications and timelines while promoting continuous improvement and sustainability in drainage solutions.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in drainage programmes and operational teams.
• Procurement and contract administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and NEC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of drainage and flood risk projects across the county.
• Manage site investigations and develop technical solutions for complex drainage issues.
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and health and safety regulations.
• Oversee procurement, contract administration, and supplier performance.
• Liaise with water companies, the Environment Agency, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor budgets, track expenditure, and ensure value for money.
• Champion innovation and sustainable practices in drainage delivery.
• Deputise for the Delivery Manager in strategic forums and public engagements.
