Job summary

Rolls‑Royce SMR is hiring a Senior Engineer – Component Codes & Standards to govern the use of engineering codes and standards across the SMR components and equipment.

You will report to the Senior Manager for Component & Structural Integrity Integration and ensure compliance with UK and international requirements while supporting broader regulatory interfaces. Hybrid working is available with on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

  • A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • An understanding of mechanical and pressure boundary codes, standards and related legislation.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, and its cross-functional impacts.
  • Experience communicating compliance positions to diverse stakeholders.
  • The ability to plan, manage and prioritise work while influencing others without formal authority.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain and evolve policies and guidance for selecting and applying component codes and standards.
  • Provide clarity on UK pressure equipment legislation (PE(S)R, PSSR) and how compliance is demonstrated through codes and standards.
  • Support application of codes across international markets and regulatory regimes for export deployment.
  • Set and support strategic direction of the ASME BPVC Section III programme.
  • Provide technical advice on structure and application of ASME BPVC Section III requirements.
  • Oversee cross-functional roles and interfaces required by the Code.
  • Work with design, manufacturing, quality and structural integrity teams to resolve issues.
  • Guide interfaces with manufacturing standards and the structural integrity case.
