Job summary

RTL Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead technical delivery on a major water and wastewater project in the UK, involving reinforced concrete structures, deep excavations and live operational sites.

You will direct site engineers, coordinate temporary works, dewatering, pipework installation and QA documentation to ensure safety, quality and programme compliance. A minimum 3 years at site engineer level, CSCS card, and driving licence preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ site engineer level experience or above.
• Experience on water/wastewater projects is desirable.
• Strong experience with reinforced concrete structures.

Responsibilities

• Leading and overseeing site engineering activities across reinforced concrete structures, chambers, pipework and water infrastructure.
• Managing day-to-day engineering delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, accurately and to programme.
• Setting out and surveying reinforced concrete chambers, structures, pipework, chainages, alignments and valve slab positions.
• Supporting delivery of water-retaining reinforced concrete structures, including base slabs, walls and precast roof plank installation.
• Working within sheet-piled cofferdams and deep excavations, coordinating with temporary works designers and coordinators.
• Coordinating dewatering, ground support and temporary works requirements.
• Overseeing the installation of large-diameter ductile iron pipework, wall couplings and valves, including hydrostatic testing.
• Supporting connections and tie-ins to existing live infrastructure, including isolations.
• Reviewing drawings, specs and technical documentation, identifying issues.
• Producing and reviewing QA documentation and handover records.
• Mentoring and supporting Site Engineers and junior staff.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major water and wastewater infrastructure project. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a technically challenging water industry scheme, involving reinforced concrete structures, deep excavations, cofferdams, large-diameter pipework and live operational infrastructure.

As Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical engineering leadership across the project, ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical, quality and programme standards. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Management, subcontractors, temporary works teams and design consultants to ensure works are delivered in accordance with design, specifications and client requirements.

Senior Engineer Responsibilities

• Leading and overseeing site engineering activities across reinforced concrete structures, chambers, pipework and associated water infrastructure.
• Managing day-to-day engineering delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, accurately and to programme.
• Setting out and surveying reinforced concrete chambers, structures, pipework, chainages, alignments and valve slab positions.
• Supporting the delivery of water-retaining reinforced concrete structures, including thick in-situ base slabs, walls and precast roof plank installation.
• Working within sheet-piled cofferdams and deep excavations, including coordination with temporary works designers and Temporary Works Coordinators.
• Coordinating dewatering, ground support and temporary works requirements.
• Overseeing the installation of large-diameter DN600-DN1200 ductile iron pipework, wall couplings and valves, including hydrostatic and pressure testing.
• Supporting connections and tie-ins to existing live/operational water infrastructure, including coordination of isolations and shutdowns.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, water company standard details and technical documentation, identifying and resolving engineering issues as they arise.
• Producing and reviewing QA documentation, Inspection & Test Plans, inspection records, as-built information and handover documentation.
• Mentoring and supporting Site Engineers, Graduate Engineers and junior members of the engineering team.

Senior Engineer Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience at Site Engineer level or above.
• Previous experience working on water/wastewater treatment works or major water infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Strong experience with reinforced concrete structures, particularly water-retaining structures.
• Experience delivering thick in-situ reinforced concrete base slabs, walls and precast roof plank installations is desirable.
• Experience working within sheet-piled cofferdams and deep excavations, including temporary works, dewatering and ground support systems.
• Valid CSCS Card (essential).
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
