Job summary

Gearing Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Senior Site Engineer for a major water infrastructure project in Rugby. You will oversee engineering activities on the Sewage Treatment Works site, manage setting out, and ensure works meet programme and spec.

The role requires heavy civils/water experience, CSCS, SMSTS (beneficial), ability to read drawings, and a full UK driving licence. Freelance position with daily rate £350–£390, start 1 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Senior Site Engineer on civil engineering projects.
• Reservoir, water, highways, flood defence, utilities or heavy civils experience desirable.
• Strong understanding of structures, concrete, drainage, utilities, ducting for pipework and infrastructure delivery.
• CSCS Card.
• SMSTS / SSSTS beneficial.
• Temporary Works knowledge advantageous.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing engineering activities across the Sewage Treatment Works (STW) site.
• Managing and reviewing setting out activities.
• Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs, WPPs and QA documentation.
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme and specification.
• Managing subcontractors and site teams.
• Liaising with Site Agents, Project Managers and client representatives.
• Managing temporary works coordination requirements.
• Reviewing drawings and resolving technical queries.
• Supporting planning and sequencing of works.
• Maintaining quality standards and ensuring compliance with project requirements.

Are you an experienced Senior Site Engineer looking for your next challenge on a major water infrastructure project? We are recruiting for a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering a significant Sewage Treatment Works (STW) improvement / water infrastructure scheme, offering long-term work and career progression opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer with a strong background in heavy civils, water, infrastructure, structures, reinforced concrete and major projects.

Key Responsibilities
