Job summary

Fit Out invites a seasoned Senior Engineer to support a major infrastructure project in Kent. You will oversee delivery across highways works, structures, drainage, earthworks and a complex viaduct, driving safety, quality and programme adherence on site.

Joining a forward‑thinking contractor, you will manage engineering activities, review RAMS/ITPs, coordinate with design, commercial and site teams, mentor junior engineers and help shape the project from early delivery through to completion.

Qualifications

• Strong civil engineering background with proven delivery of highways, structures or earthworks
• Experience managing engineering teams and subcontractors on site
• Good understanding of quality assurance and health & safety processes

Responsibilities

• Managing engineering activities across allocated work packages
• Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs and task briefings
• Managing subcontractors and site engineers
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification
• Liaising with site management, commercial teams and design teams
• Maintaining accurate site records and quality documentation
• Providing technical support and resolving engineering challenges on site
• Assisting with planning and short-term programming activities
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in Kent.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the delivery of a significant civil engineering scheme comprising major highways works, structures, drainage, earthworks and a complex viaduct crossing. The project is in its early stages, offering the successful candidate the chance to play a key role throughout delivery while developing their career within a forward-thinking and well-established contractor. The project includes a new highway, a substantial viaduct, drainage infrastructure, environmental works and associated junction improvements.

The Role

As Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of key work packages throughout the construction phase.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing engineering activities across allocated work packages
• Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs and task briefings
• Managing subcontractors and site engineers
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification
• Liaising with site management, commercial teams and design teams
• Maintaining accurate site records and quality documentation
• Providing technical support and resolving engineering challenges on site
• Assisting with planning and short-term programming activities
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers

Requirements

We would like to hear from candidates with:

• Previous experience as a Senior Engineer, Section Engineer or experienced Site Engineer
• Strong civil engineering background
• Experience delivering highways, structures, bridges, viaducts, earthworks or infrastructure projects
• Ability to manage engineering teams and subcontractors
• Good understanding of quality assurance and health & safety processes
• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• CSCS Card

Desirable:

• SMSTS
• Temporary Works knowledge
• Major project or Tier 1 contractor experience
