Job summary

Bimplus is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a highways project in Colchester, Essex. You will provide technical support, set out works and coordinate with the site team to deliver quality, on time and safely.

The ideal candidate will have proven civil engineering experience on highways projects, the ability to read drawings, and strong communication skills. A full UK driving licence is advantageous for site access.

Qualifications

Job description

We are currently working with a well-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor, who are looking to appoint an experienced Section Engineer to join a highways project in Colchester, Essex.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of a major roundabout and highways improvement scheme, working closely with the Project Manager, Site Agent and wider site team to ensure the works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

The Role

As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support across your section of the project, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with the programme, specifications and relevant standards.
Your responsibilities will include:

Managing and coordinating engineering activities across your section of works.

Setting out and providing technical guidance to site teams.

Working closely with the Site Agent and Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of the works.

Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information.

Ensuring works are constructed in accordance with the approved designs and relevant standards.

Carrying out quality inspections and maintaining appropriate records.

Monitoring progress and supporting the delivery of the project programme.

Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and the wider project team.

Assisting with the preparation of inspection and test plans, quality documentation and other project records.

Identifying technical issues and working with the project team to develop effective solutions.

Supporting the implementation of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

About You

Our client is looking for a Section Engineer with proven civil engineering experience, ideally gained on highways or infrastructure projects.
You will need to demonstrate:

Previous experience working as a Section Engineer on civil engineering projects.

Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction and site delivery.

Experience working on highways, roads or infrastructure schemes.

The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Experience working with subcontractors and site teams.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.

Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent industry experience.

CSCS and relevant site-based engineering qualifications.

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
