Job summary

Carmichael UK in Canterbury, Kent is recruiting a Senior Engineer to lead site engineering activities on a major infrastructure project including a 550m link road and a 250m viaduct. You will supervise Site Engineers, prepare RAMS, ITPs and ensure quality, safety and programme objectives are met while coordinating with the wider delivery team and subcontractors on site.

The role offers ongoing training, career development and a long-term progression path within a landmark project team.

Qualifications

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in Canterbury, Kent.

The project involves the construction of a new 550m link road and a 250m viaduct spanning both a river and railway line, offering exposure to significant structures and heavy civil engineering works.

Working as part of the site delivery team, you will take responsibility for engineering activities on site, ensuring the successful delivery of works while leading and supporting Site Engineers under your supervision. Reporting to the Site Agent, you will play a key role in maintaining quality, safety and programme objectives.

Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating site engineering activities
• Supervising and mentoring Site Engineers
• Producing RAMS, Temporary Works Briefs and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)
• Managing technical queries (TQs), early warnings and NCRs
• Ensuring quality assurance and quality control requirements are met
• Supporting weekly planning, progress reporting and programme updates
• Liaising with the wider delivery team and subcontractors to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently

Requirements

• Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering
• Previous experience as a Senior Engineer or experienced Site Engineer ready to step up
• Strong background in civil engineering and structures projects
• Experience delivering reinforced concrete, bridge, viaduct or major infrastructure works
• Knowledge of quality processes, ITPs, NCRs and construction management principles
• Ability to lead engineering teams and coordinate multiple work fronts
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
