University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust invites a highly motivated nurse to join the Endocrine Clinical Nurse Specialists at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. The role offers autonomy within a supportive MDT and a pathway to develop advanced competencies in endocrine care.

You will provide specialist assessment, support patients through endocrine pathways, and contribute to education for patients, carers and ward staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, support, and management for patients with endocrine conditions across outpatient, inpatient, and diagnostic pathways.
• Work autonomously within your scope of practice while contributing actively to the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Support and coordinate endocrine dynamic function testing, ensuring safe monitoring and clear communication with patients.
• Demonstrate advanced communication skills to counsel patients and families.
• Act as a key point of contact for patients, offering timely advice, emotional support, and continuity of care.
• Contribute to the development of patient information resources and deliver education to patients, carers, and ward-based staff.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of endocrine pathways, treatments, and evidence-based practice.
• Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives within the Endocrine Centre.
• Work within your professional code of conduct and seek opportunities to develop your competence and specialist skills.
