Location: Home based with regular weekly travel to BBC bases
Salary: £29,000 - £39,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. London weighting may be applicable for this role.

Job Introduction

Manager Advice is looking for two Fixed Term Contract Senior Employee Relations Advisors to join our team. We are a dedicated team offering counsel and support to BBC Managers on matters related to employee relations. You'll serve as the first point of contact, addressing a comprehensive array of topics such as DC&G, Health & wellbeing, FTC, Leave, and family matters.

Main Responsibilities

The role will:

  • Perform an advisory/support role in a specialist team and provide this to BBC Managers, including Senior level.
  • Use specialist knowledge, data systems, and follow clearly defined processes to deliver HR services to an agreed SLA.
  • Often deliver pre-defined pieces of work, as well as answer ad hoc specialist requests as part of a wider specialist team.
  • Require Advisors to work independently to resolve complex queries but also collaborate within a wider team to manage more complex issues and projects.
  • Be predominantly a case management role delivered by telephone/online, but also involve delivering training and projects as required.
  • Require travel to attend sites throughout the UK for regular weekly and ad hoc meetings.
  • Handle complex cases, including contract terminations, as needed.

Are you the right candidate?

As a Senior Advisor, you will need to:
  • Have excellent, up-to-date knowledge of UK Employment Law, including Northern Ireland.
  • Be experienced in managing a large caseload, including complex cases up to and including dismissals across a range of ER matters.
  • Be comfortable delivering presentations to Managers and colleagues on company policy and HR topics.
  • Be a team player, capable of covering colleagues' cases in their absence and supporting their development.
  • Have experience using Microsoft Office and data management software, recording all activities for audit purposes.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with Managers, Business Partners, and stakeholders, working remotely and on-site.
  • Show empathy, pragmatism, and creativity to seek appropriate resolutions within policy, law, and precedent.

Desirable
  • Fluency in written and oral Welsh is desirable but not essential.
