Job summary

Allen‑Vanguard is seeking an experienced Software Team Manager to lead the Software Engineering Team in Tewkesbury. You will steer embedded and application software development for electronic counter‑measures products, define architectures, and ensure delivery against quality and cost targets.

You will have line‑management duties, mentoring staff, and coordinating day‑to‑day tasks, goals, and output. The role spans the full software lifecycle with collaboration across systems, hardware, and RF

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Typically 10+ years of software development experience.
• Experience designing low‑level embedded software and driver development.
• Experience with C, C++, C#, Python.
• Experience with FPGA/FPGA‑based soft cores and SDR frameworks (OpenCPI, GNURadio).
• Knowledge of AI/ML techniques and radio systems (GSM, Wi‑Fi).
• Experience in VHDL for FPGA implementations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain embedded software across multiple platforms.
• Develop and sustain application software for end users and partners.
• Define and document system architectures and future roadmaps.
• Perform design verification per processes and standards.
• Support bids, project plans, and resource estimation.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, and RF teams.
• Supervise and manage the Software Team’s workload.
