Job summary

Baker Hughes in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to own the design and delivery of embedded software for subsea control systems. You will lead complex troubleshooting, drive quality, and contribute technically across multiple projects, with deep expertise in distributed systems and real-time environments.

The role involves developing tools and configurations using C/C++, Python and Java SE, and collaborating on a distributed hardware-software stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related field.
• Significant embedded C/C++ experience with Python and Java SE.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and real-time systems.
• Experience with distributed communication protocols and debugging.
• Hands-on embedded or industrial control software development.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and code reviews to ensure robust, maintainable software.
• Produce and validate XML configurations for Subsea Electronic Modules.
• Develop Python-based tools to streamline workflows and automation.
• Apply OO design across Windows and real-time Linux platforms.
• Architect and support distributed systems using Modbus, CAN, Ethernet.
• Lead system-level troubleshooting across software, comms and hardware.
