Baker Hughes Company in Nailsea is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design and deliver embedded software for subsea control systems. You will lead complex troubleshooting and drive quality improvements across multiple projects, with focus on distributed systems and tool development.

The role requires hands-on development in C/C++, Python, Java, and RT‑Linux, plus experience in debugging and system‑level integration. A bachelor’s degree and strong collaboration skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related discipline.
• Significant embedded C/C++ experience; familiarity with Python and Java SE.
• Strong understanding of OO design, real-time systems, and distributed communication protocols.
• Ability to analyse issues, troubleshoot systematically, and contribute to high‑reliability systems.
• Hands‑on experience developing embedded or industrial control software.
• Experience with system‑level debugging and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in design and code reviews for robustness and maintainability.
• Produce and validate XML-based configurations for Subsea Electronic Modules.
• Develop Python tools to streamline workflows and automation.
• Apply strong OO, Java SE, and C/C++ knowledge across Windows and RT‑Linux.
• Architect and support distributed communication systems (Modbus, CAN, Ethernet).
• Lead system‑level troubleshooting across software, network, and hardware interfaces.
