Job summary

Parkside in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its embedded Linux platform. You will own the architecture, design, development, and release of complex embedded software across multi-processor systems.

You will remain hands-on while guiding UK and international engineering teams, contributing to secure boot, updates, networking, and regulatory compliance. 10+ years in embedded software and strong C++ skills are essential.

Qualifications

10+ years of embedded software development experience.
Strong C++ development skills, with C for firmware/drivers.
Experience delivering multi-processor embedded products from requirements to production.
Hands-on architect; able to lead and mentor engineers.
Experience in regulated/safety-critical engineering environments is highly relevant.

Responsibilities

Own architecture and delivery of major embedded software work packages.
Design and develop production-grade C++ applications on embedded Linux with Yocto/OpenEmbedded.
Define hardware/software partitioning, interfaces, and update strategies.
Develop embedded networking including TCP/IP, UDP, QoS, SIP/RTP and VoIP.
Integrate software with REST APIs and client applications.
Establish and maintain CI/CD, code review, and automated testing (GitLab, Gerrit, Jenkins).
Lead testing (unit, integration, HIL) for product certification and regulatory needs.
Own software releases and production test software; resolve manufacturing and support issues.
Embed cybersecurity into architecture (secure boot, signed updates, access control).
Lead architecture/design reviews and mentor engineers.
