Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Technician for a major mining conglomerate in Randburg, Gauteng. The role focuses on maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems in a challenging mining environment, requiring hands-on experience with heavy-duty equipment, control systems and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have a Trade Certificate (Electrician) or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years post-qualification experience, and knowledge of

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or diploma in electrical engineering as required.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience as Electrician, with ≥3 years in a senior role.
• Experience with underground or surface mining electrical systems and heavy industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance, installation, and repair on mining equipment (crushers, conveyors, pumps, ventilation, haulage).
• Troubleshoot electrical faults in LV/MV systems, motors, control panels and circuitry.
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure performance and prevent failures.
• Install and commission new electrical equipment per specs and safety standards.
• Interpret schematics and wiring diagrams to guide work activities.
• Maintain compliance with lockout/tagout and safety policies.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in electrical maintenance practices.
• Respond to electrical emergencies and breakdowns as required.
