Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for an on-site role in Randburg, Gauteng. You will oversee design, implementation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure for mining operations, including HV/MV systems, substations and control systems. This role requires leadership, strong analytical skills and extensive project-management experience.

The ideal candidate will hold a BEng in Electrical Engineering and Pr. Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng.) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a significant portion in heavy industrial/mining environments.
• Proven experience with HV and MV systems, substations, and power distribution.
• Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial automation is advantageous.
• Experience in project management and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and commission electrical systems for mining operations, including power distribution, MCCs, and control panels.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, motors, and generators.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards (OHS Act, SANS).
• Conduct electrical hazard analyses and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Manage electrical projects, including scope definition, budgeting, contractor management, and execution.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
