Job summary

Genesis Technical Recruitment Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead cost-effective electrical designs from Concept to Production, owning vehicle electrical and electronic architecture, including power distribution, harnesses and controllers.

You will develop schematics, define system requirements, support DV/P tests, and engage with suppliers to ensure robust and manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• HND or Level 5 qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years' experience developing electrical design solutions through to production.
• Experience creating detailed schematics and harness drawings, component selection, etc.
• Knowledge of J1939 CAN protocols.
• Experience using industry software to develop system solutions and schematics.
• Experience using component libraries to support solutions and aid design efficiency.
• Experience designing EMC-compliant solutions.
• Hands-on approach to design and development.
• Experience with design reviews, release and change control processes.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of electrical designs from Concept through Production.
• Take technical ownership of vehicle electrical and electronic architecture, including power distribution and harness systems.
• Develop, review and maintain electrical schematics and system documentation.
• Define electrical system requirements and ensure proper component selection and margins.
• Lead design reviews and document actions.
• Develop and support DV/P activities at component, subsystem and vehicle levels.
• Lead investigations of electrical issues using root-cause analysis.
• Engage with suppliers on requirements and technical approvals.
• Provide mentorship to engineers and coordinate activities to meet objectives.
• Support Manufacturing and Purchasing with technical input as needed.
