Job summary

Mott MacDonald is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer for its Power Transmission and Distribution team. You will develop innovative solutions for grid systems and renewable integration, ensuring security of electricity supply and coordinating with major utilities.

The role spans from feasibility through detailed design to commissioning, with opportunities to work on UK and international projects. Reporting to the Power team Principal Engineer, you will handle HV substation layouts, equipment

Qualifications

Degree level required with Chartered status preferred.
Experience in power transmission and distribution industries.
Design, delivery and supervision of HV substation solutions (110kV–400kV).
Development of specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations and primary/secondary equipment.
Experience across all lifecycle stages of projects.
Ability to apply health and safety requirements to HV plant designs.
Preparation of technical reports in English.

Responsibilities

Produce primary plant layout for HV substations.
Specify HV plant and ancillary equipment.
Contribute to engineering design across lifecycle stages from feasibility to commissioning.
Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines (civil, structural, environmental, etc.).
Deliver projects in new technologies (energy storage, HVDC, smart grids).
Provide professional services to UK and overseas clients.
