The role offers hybrid working with site visits, progression to Lead Electrical Engineer, and a long-term opportunity across the M&E Systemwide programme on a UK-wide rail infrastructure project.
High Speed Two Ltd | M&E Engineering
Salary: £70,000 to £83,672 + 12% pension + healthcare + 25 days holiday

Shape the LV Electrical Engineering across the whole of High Speed Two
Are you an Electrical Engineer looking for the opportunity to work on one of Europe's largest infrastructure programmes?
Do you have strong LV electrical experience from building services, infrastructure or another complex engineering environment, and want to use that expertise across a major rail programme?
High Speed Two Ltd is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its central M&E Engineering team, no rail experience necessaey.
This is a broad technical and delivery focused role, initially working across the M&E fit out of approximately 37 shafts, portals and Head Houses along the HS2 route.
These are highly complex underground and above ground assets, with electrical systems needing to integrate with mechanical services, ventilation, pumping, controls, communications and the wider railway.
You will work closely with the Main Works Civils contractors, providing technical input, assurance and challenge from design through construction and into commissioning.
The role will then move onto HS2's M&E Systemwide programme, working across the wider railway route. The Systemwide scope includes the provision of LV electrical systems across the HS2 line of route, including: Electrical distribution, Lighting, Distribution boards, Building Management System controls, Associated LV electrical infrastructure
This gives the role an unusually broad project lifecycle and route wide perspective, with the opportunity to develop from asset based M&E delivery into programme wide electrical engineering.
You will provide senior electrical engineering support across design and delivery, working as part of a multidisciplinary M&E team.
The role is suitable for either an experienced Electrical Project Engineer or a Senior/Principal Discipline / Design Engineer with strong project delivery experience.
You will review contractor designs and technical submissions, provide technical assurance, resolve engineering issues and ensure electrical systems meet HS2 requirements, standards and operational needs.
A key part of the role is understanding how electrical systems interface with other disciplines and managing technical change throughout delivery.
You will need the technical confidence to challenge proposals where necessary and the practical judgement to develop solutions that can actually be delivered on site.
We are looking for a technically strong electrical engineer who can combine sound electrical knowledge with practical project delivery experience.
Your background could be in building services, infrastructure, rail or another complex engineering environment. Rail experience is not essential.
You may currently be working as an Electrical Project Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer or Senior Design Engineer, provided you have experience taking electrical systems through design and into delivery.
This is not a role focused on a single building or isolated electrical package.
You will initially work across a large number of major HS2 assets, gaining exposure to complex M&E delivery and multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
You will then have the opportunity to broaden that experience into the M&E Systemwide programme, helping deliver LV electrical infrastructure across the wider HS2 route.
You will work directly for High Speed Two Ltd, alongside experienced engineering professionals and major delivery organisations, with the programme continuing through to 2037 to 2039.
There is a clear progression route to Lead Electrical Engineer at £90,000 to £100,000 + package.
For an electrical engineer who wants to develop technically, broaden their infrastructure experience and work on projects that will form part of the UK's future high speed railway, this is a strong long term opportunity
