Are you an Electrical Engineer with a building services background looking to apply your experience to a major infrastructure programme?

Do you have experience delivering LV electrical systems on large, multidisciplinary projects and the technical knowledge to review contractor designs and resolve issues during construction?

Salary: £71,121.60 to £83,672 including 20% flexible allowance
Location: London NW1, 3 days per week in the office, remainder from home with ad hoc site visits

I am recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a central M&E Engineering team working on approximately 37 shafts, portals, and pumping stations, with some of the underground structures comparable in scale and complexity to tower blocks buried below ground. The team is responsible for assuring the electrical works being delivered within these assets, alongside LV electrical distribution across the route.

This is primarily a delivery and technical assurance role. You will review electrical designs and works being delivered by the Main Works Civils contractors, identifying where requirements or standards have not been met and working with the wider engineering team to develop practical, compliant solutions.

Essential requirements

• Strong electrical engineering background within building services.
• Experience delivering electrical systems on large, complex multidisciplinary engineering or construction projects.
• Good technical knowledge of LV distribution, switchboards, lighting, cable management systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Experience reviewing contractor designs, technical submissions and resolving technical queries during project delivery.
• Experience identifying technical issues or non-compliances and developing practical, compliant engineering solutions.
• Strong understanding of project delivery constraints, with the ability to balance technical requirements with programme and commercial considerations.
• Experience working collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines and contractor interfaces.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge contractors and proposed solutions where required.
• A relevant engineering qualification, with HNC/HND, degree or equivalent considered.
• Experience undertaking site inspections and construction-stage technical assurance.
• Experience beyond graduate level, with sufficient breadth of technical knowledge to independently assess and resolve engineering issues.

Desirable requirements

• Building services experience on major infrastructure, construction or transport projects.
• Experience working on projects/packages valued in the tens of millions or above.
• Understanding of CDM requirements.
• Experience considering interfaces between building services and wider systems.
• Previous client-side experience and/or experience working for a major contractor.
• Rail, HS2, Crossrail or other major transport infrastructure experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.

This could be particularly well suited to someone from a traditional building services background who wants to move into major rail infrastructure and applying their core electrical engineering experience.
