This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to take a senior technical role on a variety of complex water infrastructure projects across Peterborough and the wider East Anglia region.

With a significant pipeline of projects ahead, our client is investing in innovative and sustainable solutions across its water infrastructure portfolio. You'll have the opportunity to work on technically challenging schemes while helping to drive low-carbon design, digital engineering, modular construction and offsite solutions.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll provide technical support and direction across a portfolio of water-sector projects, ensuring electrical designs are fit for purpose and comply with current legislation, standards and client requirements.

You'll also play an important role in supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers within the team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical direction and electrical engineering expertise across a range of water infrastructure projects.
  • Reviewing and checking electrical design deliverables produced by internal engineering teams and the wider supply chain.
  • Reviewing specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings and 3D models to ensure the required technical, safety and quality standards are achieved.
  • Working closely with Principal Engineers, Design Managers and Project Managers to understand upcoming project milestones and design review requirements.
  • Managing design quality throughout the engineering workflow and ensuring reviews are completed in line with project programmes.
  • Reviewing technical queries and design change requests from construction teams and the supply chain.
  • Providing timely and accurate technical advice throughout the construction phase.
  • Contributing to CDM and commissioning strategy meetings.
  • Working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines and project teams to resolve design requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve designs, processes and project delivery.
  • Supporting engineering leads and discipline engineers to deliver outputs on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior and less experienced Electrical Engineers.
  • Championing sustainable and low‑carbon electrical design.
  • Supporting the development of offsite build, modular construction and repeatable engineering solutions.
About You

We're looking for a technically strong Electrical Engineer with proven experience delivering projects within the UK water sector.

You'll be comfortable taking ownership of technical matters, reviewing the work of other engineers and working with a wide range of stakeholders across design, construction and project delivery.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent knowledge gained through significant industry experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or be working towards Chartership.
  • Previous experience working on water‑sector assets and capital projects - this is essential for the position.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant electrical engineering regulations, standards and codes of practice.
  • Experience reviewing and checking electrical engineering designs and technical documentation.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
  • An understanding of CDM requirements and their application within the design process.
  • Experience supporting projects through design and into the construction/commissioning stages.
  • Previous experience mentoring, coaching or supporting junior engineers.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive and solutions‑focused approach to technical challenges.
  • Experience of digital engineering, 3D design, modular construction, offsite manufacturing or sustainable engineering solutions would also be highly advantageous.
Why Join?

This is an opportunity to become involved in a major programme of investment within the UK water sector, working on projects that will have a genuine long‑term impact on infrastructure, communities and the environment.
