Job summary

BES Rochdale invites applications for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing electrical design team. The role focuses on LV distribution, lighting schemes, and integrated layouts across Autodesk Forma workflows and related software.

You will lead individual projects within our multi-discipline team, ensuring designs are accurate, coordinated and ready for delivery across RIBA stages. A strong background in building services and UK electrical standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Design experience - minimum two years in electrical building services design.
• Knowledge of electrical design standards and safety requirements.
• Familiarity with Relux/DIALux for lighting design and AutoCAD for schematics.
• Understanding of BS7671:2018+A4:2026 and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Create scope documents and schedules for project stages.
• Design LV distribution schemes using ElectricalOM and Trimble Pro-Design.
• Design lighting schemes using Relux and DIALux; produce related diagrams.
• Produce LV, earthing and fire alarm schematics in AutoCAD; integrate layouts in REVIT.
• Ensure designs are accurate, coordinated and deliverable.

This role is based in the BES Rochdale office. Where will you be working?

An exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing electrical design team. This role is ideally suited to a career minded, ambitious individual who is looking for that unique opportunity to become a key member of our electrical team that forms part of our wider multidiscipline design team consisting of architectural, mechanical/HVAC & process disciplines. Leading individual projects and working alongside other electrical team members on larger projects throughout various RIBA stages. The work is predominantly building services based, including occasional process works varying from project to project.

Works consist of the following: LV distribution, small & mechanical power, UPS, earthing, lighting & emergency lighting, access control, CCTV, security, voice & data, fire alarm-detection (VESDA) , solar PV, renewables and facilities monitoring. Where project scope includes process elements, works occasionally consist of controls & instrumentation.

All project workflows and collaboration are controlled using Autodesk Forma (previously Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)).

What you'll be doing:

You will create clear scope documents and schedules that support each stage of the project.

You will design LV distribution schemes using ElectricalOM and Trimble Pro-Design and design lighting and emergency lighting schemes using Relux and DIALux.

You will produce LV, earthing and fire alarm schematic diagrams in AutoCAD, and you will use REVIT to bring together small power, mechanical power, earthing, lighting, access control, CCTV, security, voice and data, fire alarm-detection (VESDA), solar PV, renewables, and facilities monitoring layouts.

You will help ensure every design is accurate, coordinated, and ready for delivery.

What you'll bring

• Design experience - Minimum two years in electrical building services design.
• Software skills - Microsoft 365, Relux, DIALux, ElectricalOM, Trimble Pro-Design and AutoCAD. A working knowledge of Revit is also preferred.
• Technical knowledge - BS7671:2018+A4:2026. UPS, solar PV, renewables, and ATEX awareness.
• Driving licence - Full UK licence.
