Job summary

Vertical Recruitment Limited is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer in Cheshire with hybrid working. You will lead the electrical design function across multiple projects, mentor a growing team and ensure designs meet high engineering standards.

Working alongside mechanical engineers and clients, you will shape technical direction, drive innovation and value engineering, and progress projects from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

Strong Electrical Building Services design experience.
Excellent knowledge of LV power distribution and electrical building services.
Experience using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Trimble ProDesign and Dialux/Relux.
Strong communication and client–facing skills.
Previous experience mentoring or leading engineers.
A collaborative approach with good commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

Lead the electrical design function across multiple projects.
Manage, mentor and develop a growing team of Electrical Engineers.
Produce and review high–quality electrical building services designs.
Act as the technical lead for LV electrical systems and associated infrastructure.
Design power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, UPS systems, standby generation and earthing systems.
Coordinate with mechanical, process and controls disciplines.
Attend client meetings and provide technical guidance throughout project delivery.
Ensure compliance with BS 7671, British Standards and industry best practice.
Support commissioning activities and resolve technical challenges.
Identify opportunities for innovation, sustainability and value engineering.
Drive continuous improvement across engineering standards and design quality.

The Opportunity

As Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across multiple projects while managing and mentoring a growing team of Electrical Engineers.

Working alongside Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers and clients, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest engineering standards.

You'll have the freedom to influence design decisions, improve engineering processes and help shape the future direction of the electrical engineering function.

About You

You'll be an experienced Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys leading people as much as solving technical challenges.

You'll likely have experience within Building Services, Industrial or M&E contracting and be comfortable managing design projects from concept through to completion.

You’ll ideally have:

Strong Electrical Building Services design experience.
Excellent knowledge of LV power distribution and electrical building services.
Experience using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Trimble ProDesign and Dialux/Relux.
Strong communication and client–facing skills.

Chartered status, or working towards Chartership, would be advantageous but is not essential.
