Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer to join the Water Utilities Division across Birmingham, Cardiff and Bristol. The role focuses on electrical and control design for water and wastewater projects, with client interaction and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The successful candidate will bring chartered status, strong communication, and a track record in design/consultancy, plus the ability to deliver compliant, safe engineering solutions across LV/HV, SCADA,

Qualifications

• Qualified to HND level or higher in electrical, electronic or control engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered status with a recognised Professional Institution.
• Experience in electrical & control engineering design/consultancy.
• Strong communication skills to interact with other disciplines and clients.
• Willingness to contribute to and develop technical knowledge networks.
• Drive to stay abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental priorities.
• Experience working in the water and/or wastewater industry.
• Master’s degree in electrical, electronic or control engineering or related discipline.
• Good understanding of pipeline hydraulics and/or water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Capability to manage design delivery and projects.

Responsibilities

• Electrical power distribution design (LV and HV).
• Design and specification of communications networks and SCADA.
• Specifying renewable and back-up generation systems.
• Cabling and installation design.
• Instrumentation selection.
• Factory and site acceptance tests of equipment.
• Mentoring other electrical engineers, developing and checking designs, and providing technical direction.
• Ensuring designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
• Integrating electrical & control design with other disciplines.
