Job summary

AJ Group in Leeds seeks an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Site Director to lead in-house EHS strategy for construction and data centre developments. In this senior role, you will provide professional EHS expertise to executive leadership, ensuring quality, compliance, and robust safety management across projects.

You will oversee regulatory compliance with UK H&S law, CDM 2015, environmental standards, and drive a proactive safety culture on site, coordinating with Management

Qualifications

• Proven professional EHS management experience in construction and development.
• Advantageous: direct experience on large data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Must reside within a commutable distance to Leeds; on site 4/5 days a week.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, CDM 2015, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with UK health and safety legislation including HSW Act 1974 and CDM 2015.
• Support CDM duties by working with Principal Contractor and Principal Designer for safe project delivery.
• Conduct site inspections and audits; review RAMS and monitor HSE standards.
• Identify hazards, assess risks, and investigate incidents under RIDDOR; report to HSE as required.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing health and safety training; promote a safety culture.
• Monitor environmental factors (noise, dust, waste) and ensure emergency procedures are tested.
• Collaborate with ESG officer to align EHS activities with policy expectations.
