Job summary

NRL Ltd is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to oversee Environmental, Health & Safety on a Northumberland-based project. You will lead on-site EHS activities, develop robust policies, and drive a proactive safety culture across the project lifecycle.

Key requirements include 5+ years in an EHS role within construction/engineering and NEBOSH/IOSH certification. Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge of environmental permits are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an EHS role within construction or engineering.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, standards and best practices.
• NEBOSH or IOSH certification is essential.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• Ability to engage with stakeholders and promote a proactive safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all Environmental, Health & Safety activities across the project lifecycle.
• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and management systems in line with company and legal requirements.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all levels of the project.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on EHS practices.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure adherence to health & safety standards.
• Review safety documentation, including RAMS.
• Manage incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions.
• Ensure delivery of safety inductions and toolbox talks.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, audits, and safety performance metrics.
• Attend Site Meetings, Safety Meetings, and Project Reviews.
• Prepare and issue EHS reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and sustainability requirements.
• Proactively identify and resolve EHS issues and implement continuous improvements.
