Job summary

Southend on Sea City Council is seeking a Senior EHC coordinator to join the SEND assessment team on a full-time fixed-term contract until 30/07/2027. You will oversee complex cases, provide expert advice on SEND legislation, and supervise a team of EHC officers to ensure high-quality EHC plans.

Qualifications

• You’ll bring strong experience of working within a SEND environment.
• You’ll have excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015, Children and Families Act 2014 and EHC processes.
• You’ll be an effective communicator and problem solver, able to navigate challenging situations and achieve positive outcomes.
• As a senior member of the team, you’ll also have experience supporting colleagues and providing guidance or supervision on complex SEND cases.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and oversee the statutory assessment or statutory EHC review process for defined complex cases and provide complex case support and supervision to a team of EHC assessment officers.
• Provide supervision and oversight to a team of EHC coordinators in conjunction with the team manager.
• Work in partnership with colleagues across the area to ensure that EHC Plans provide a holistic view of the child/young person.
