Job summary

AWD online in Portishead, North Somerset, is seeking an HR Manager to lead a broad People function across schools and central teams. Reporting to the Director of People, you will deliver day-to-day HR operations, line manage HR Assistants and partner with senior leaders to ensure compliant, high-quality services.

You will oversee employee relations, change management, recruitment, workforce planning and HR systems, provide expert guidance, and drive service improvement.

Qualifications

• CIPD Chartered Member with Level 7 or equivalent qualification
• Senior operational HR experience at Senior HR Advisor or HR Business Partner level
• Experience managing complex employee relations casework including disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance and safeguarding matters
• Experience leading organisational change, consultation and restructuring processes
• Experience advising senior leaders and improving HR processes
• Understanding of education HR, safeguarding and safer recruitment requirements
• Experience managing and developing HR staff or teams
• Strong investigation, reporting, analytical, organisational and communication skills with stakeholder influence
• Knowledge of HR service management, audit, compliance, absence management, equality, diversity and inclusion, data protection and GDPR
• Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams) and ability to travel between sites

Responsibilities

• Lead complex employee relations casework including disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance and safeguarding matters
• Oversee compliance, safeguarding, safer recruitment and HR policy application
• Drive organisational change, TUPE activity, restructurings and associated due diligence
• Oversee recruitment, workforce planning, probation processes and establishment management
• Lead HR system development, data integrity, reporting and workflows
• Monitor service standards, SLAs, HR KPIs and risk management
• Line manage HR Assistants and provide leadership to the People team, supporting senior leaders
