Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director to lead and grow the Environmental and Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) and EnvCoW services across the UK & Ireland. The role emphasizes technical leadership, a strong network of delivery partners, and ensuring high-quality delivery on major infrastructure projects.

You will work with contractors and project teams to meet planning and environmental consent commitments, while acting as a senior technical authority for environmental compliance activities.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Environmental and/or Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) services on major infrastructure, utilities or development projects.
• Strong understanding of construction-phase ecological and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience working with contractors and construction delivery teams.
• Knowledge of secondary consents, permits and licensing requirements.
• Experience reviewing and approving environmental compliance deliverables.
• Credible technical lead and quality reviewer for ECoW services.
• Experience managing subcontractors or partners.
• Strong commercial awareness supporting business development and client engagement.

Responsibilities

• Act as AECOM's UK&I lead for ECoW and EnvCoW services.
• Lead verification for ECoW deliverables from internal teams and partners.
• Ensure projects are resourced, mobilised and delivered to quality standards.
• Provide expert advice on ecological risk management and compliance.
• Support growth of environmental compliance services and related lines.
• Develop UK&I supply chain strategy for ECoW/EnvCoW.
• Support delivery of environmental commitments on major projects.
• Expand Clerk of Works services through integrated environmental solutions.
