Job summary

AECOM seeks an Associate Director to lead Environmental and Ecological Compliance across the UK & Ireland. You will act as technical authority for ECoW/EnvCoW services and drive high-quality delivery with internal teams and partners.

You will mentor teams, help grow the service, engage with clients and contractors, and shape compliance strategies while enjoying hybrid working and strong development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering ECoW/EcW services on major infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction-phase ecological and environmental compliance.
• Experience working with contractors and delivery teams.
• Knowledge of secondary consents (planning conditions, DCOs, permits, licensing).
• Experience reviewing and approving environmental deliverables.
• Demonstrated leadership and technical review capabilities in ECoW services.
• Subcontractor and partner management experience.
• Commercial awareness and business development support.

Responsibilities

• Act as UK&I lead for ECoW and EnvCoW services.
• Lead verifier for ECoW deliverables from teams and partners.
• Ensure projects are resourced, mobilised and delivered to quality standards.
• Provide expert advice on ecological risk management and compliance.
• Support growth of secondary consents service line.
• Develop UK&I supply chain strategy for ECoW and related services.
• Support delivery of environmental commitments on major projects.
• Promote Clerk of Works services expansion (arboriculture, archaeology).
