Job summary

AECOM in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Associate Director to lead our Environmental and Ecological Clerk of Works services. You will drive technical leadership, ensure quality across ECoW/EnvCoW deliverables, and coordinate with contractors and delivery partners on major projects.

This senior role focuses on building a scalable environmental compliance business, resourcing projects, and shaping strategy with a strong emphasis on ecological risk management and consent implementation.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering ECoW/EnvCoW on major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction-phase ecological and environmental compliance.
• Experience working with contractors and delivery teams.
• Knowledge of secondary consents (planning conditions, DCOs, permits).
• Ability to review and approve environmental compliance deliverables.
• Technical lead and quality reviewer for ECoW services.
• Experience managing subcontractors and partners.
• Commercial awareness and bid support.

Responsibilities

• Act as UK&I lead for ECoW and EnvCoW services.
• Provide expert advice on ecological risk management and consent implementation.
• Lead verifier for ECoW deliverables from internal teams and partners.
• Ensure projects are resourced and delivered to quality standards.
• Develop UK&I supply chain strategy for environmental services.
• Support growth of related Clerk of Works services.
