Job summary

AECOM in the UK invites applications for Associate Director - Environmental and Ecological Compliance Lead, overseeing ECoW and EnvCoW services across the UK & Ireland. You’ll lead technical delivery, manage a network of specialists, and drive quality and compliance on major infrastructure projects.

You’ll work with contractors and client teams, shape a scalable environmental compliance business, and mentor delivery partners.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering ECoW/EnvCoW services on major infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of construction-phase ecological and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience working with contractors and delivery teams.
• Understanding of environmental/ ecological secondary consents (DCOs, permits, licensing).
• Experience reviewing environmental deliverables.
• Strong ecological background and ability to lead technical reviews.
• Experience managing subcontractors and partners.
• Commercial awareness and business development experience.
• Membership of a professional body (CIEEM) and chartership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead ECoW/EnvCoW services for UK&I.
• Lead verifier for ECoW-related deliverables.
• Ensure projects are resourced and delivered to quality standards.
• Provide expert advice on ecological risk management and compliance.
• Grow the secondary consents service line.
• Develop UK&I supply chain strategy for ECoW/EnvCoW services.
• Support delivery of environmental commitments on major projects.
• Grow Clerk of Works services through integrated environmental solutions.
