Job summary

Highfield Professional Solutions Ltd is recruiting for a Senior E+C&I Engineer to join a major project based in Renfrew. You will lead electrical, control and instrumentation design, construction and commissioning across complex machinery and control systems.

The role requires at least 5 years' E+C&I experience, delivery of control system specs, FAT involvement, and strong communication with clients. Hybrid working with 3 days on-site and a £56/hr rate (Inside IR35) applies.

Qualifications

Senior E,C&I Engineer

Renfrew | £56 per hour | Inside IR35 | Contract | Hybrid - 3 Days On-Site

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior E,C&I Engineer to join a major engineering project based in Renfrew. This is an exciting contract opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in Electrical, Control and Instrumentation design, construction and commissioning. You will provide technical expertise across complex control systems and machinery, taking responsibility for delivering key engineering packages within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of the E,C&I team delivering design packages for the construction and commissioning of complex machinery.


• Formulate solutions to technically challenging and high-profile engineering issues, with support from the Lead Engineer.


• Communicate technical solutions effectively to clients and senior management.


• Prepare E,C&I engineering deliverables, including Control System Specifications, Shutdown Cause & Effect Charts, datasheets and technical requisitions for long-lead items.


• Check and verify design deliverables, including cable block diagrams, cable routing diagrams, cable schedules and termination diagrams.


• Identify and resolve discrepancies or deviations from the original proposal or contract, raising technical queries with project teams and clients.


• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).


• Contribute E,C&I engineering expertise to multidisciplinary Engineering Design Reviews and support the close-out of actions.


• Undertake LV electrical power design.


• Provide additional engineering support as directed by the E,C&I Lead Engineer.

Essential Skills & Experience

• BSc/BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline, with a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.


• At least 5 years' general engineering experience focused on E,C&I design, construction and commissioning.


• Experience delivering control systems upgrade projects involving PLC, SCADA, motion control and/or servo applications.


• Experience commissioning Motor Control Centres (MCCs) and control system cabinets.


• Practical construction and commissioning site experience.


• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.


• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.


• Ability to manage workload effectively, prioritise tasks and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.


• TÜV SIS Functional Safety Qualification.


• Experience with motion control and servo applications.
