Job summary

IQVIA in Cambridge seeks a Senior Technical Specialist - DMPK to lead bioanalytical work and mentor a lab team. You will develop and optimise LC-MS bioanalysis for DMPK studies, troubleshoot MS instrumentation and drive innovative assays within drug discovery projects.

The role combines hands-on laboratory work with project leadership, cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement across multiple matrices and study designs. Strong communication and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• BSc or equivalent in relevant scientific area.
• Industry experience in pharma/biotech or commercial organisations.
• Expert user of Mass Spectrometry instrumentation.
• Bioanalytical method development for challenging analytes in complex matrices.
• Accurate planning, execution and troubleshooting.
• Good communication skills (verbal/written).
• Excellent team player with positive attitude.
• Creative problem solving.
• Ability to plan & execute work independently.
• Project management.
• Experience guiding/mentoring junior colleagues.
• LC-MS/MS maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Bespoke method development for small molecules.

Responsibilities

• Developing, optimising and executing bioanalysis of samples from in vivo DMPK studies for small and large molecule drug discovery projects.
• Extensive knowledge of modern UPLC-MS systems and software including chromatographic method development.
• Troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimisation of mass spectrometry and LC equipment.
• Analyse samples such as plasma, brain, urine, etc.
• Pharmacokinetic parameter determination and underlying principles.
• Lead scientific and technical projects, delivering high-quality data on time.
• Mentor and develop colleagues within a matrix environment.
• Drive innovation through novel assays and protocols.
