Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is seeking a District Nurse (Specialist Practitioner) to lead the District Nursing Service, delivering high-quality, person-centred care to adults in their homes.

You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate complex nursing care, supervise the district nursing team, and coordinate care with GPs, social care, and other professionals in a 24/7 community service. A live NMC pin is required.

Qualifications

• Current registration with NMC.
• SPQ Advancing Practice in District Nursing (level 11 – Masters Level).
• V300 Independent Prescribing & Advanced Clinical Assessment.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership and management competencies.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• IT skills (word processing/email/internet).
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work to challenging deadlines.

Responsibilities

• The post holder will provide an accessible, high quality nursing service to all ages in the community, collaborating with service users and partners.
• The District Nurse leads and manages a multidisciplinary team, with autonomous professional practice.
• Deliver care to patients, including out-of-hours periods, with specialist district nursing interventions.
• Coordinate workload and delegate tasks within the district nursing team.
• Operate an open access service, prioritising needs and ensuring timely responses.
