Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an experienced DevSecOps professional to design, build, and operate secure development and deployment infrastructure for autonomy programs in the UK. You will implement automated security controls across CI/CD and ensure Secure by Design throughout the software lifecycle.

Work spans cloud and on-prem environments, with labs, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop components. You will collaborate with engineers to deliver secure software across multiple classifications and

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years in DevOps/DevSecOps/platform engineering/site reliability/software engineering.
• Experience delivering software within UK defence or other highly regulated national security environments.
• Strong understanding of UK MOD/NATO DevSecOps and Secure by Design; security integration throughout lifecycle.
• Experience applying MOD security policies, assurance processes, and security requirements.
• Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines with modern tooling.
• Strong grasp of IaC, config management, containerisation, and automation.
• Experience with Git, GitLab, GitHub or equivalent.
• Experience supporting DevSecOps across NATO or multinational programmes.
• Understanding of security frameworks and software assurance across NATO partners.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate secure development and deployment infrastructure for Shield AI autonomy projects.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid, secure software delivery.
• Embed security throughout the lifecycle with testing, evidence, and assurance.
• Apply MOD Secure by Design principles to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to establish secure environments.
• Design and maintain environments across cloud, on-prem, labs, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop.
• Enable secure software development across different security classifications.
• Implement automated CI/CD security controls (static analysis, dependency & container scanning, secrets, SBOM, vulnerability management).
• Champion a DevSecOps culture emphasizing security, reliability, deployability, and performance ownership.
