Job summary

Shield AI in London is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to design, build, secure, and operate the software delivery infrastructure for autonomous defence systems. You will work at the intersection of software, platform engineering, cyber security, and defence engineering to create secure development environments and delivery pipelines that enable rapid, reliable deployment of mission-critical software.

The role requires strong experience in UK defence contexts, Secure by Design, and MOD/NATO

Qualifications

BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, platform engineering, SRE, software engineering, or related field.
Significant experience delivering software within UK defence or other regulated national security environments.
Strong understanding of UK MOD/NATO DevSecOps and Secure by Design, including cyber security integration.
Experience applying MOD security policies, security assurance processes, and technical security requirements to defence programmes.
Experience developing and operating CI/CD pipelines with modern SCM/build/test/deploy technologies.
Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, containerisation, and automation.
Experience with Git, GitLab or GitHub, or equivalent tooling.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate secure development and deployment infrastructure for Shield AI autonomy and defence programmes.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines enabling rapid, repeatable, and secure delivery of software.
Embed security throughout the software development lifecycle with integrated controls, testing, and assurance.
Apply UK MOD Secure by Design principles and help teams meet cyber security responsibilities.
Collaborate with software, autonomy, systems, integration, and test engineers to meet security requirements.
Design and maintain environments spanning cloud, on‑prem, lab, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop.
Enable secure software deployment across different security classifications and segmented environments.
Implement automated security controls in CI/CD pipelines (static analysis, scans, SBOM, vulnerability management, policy enforcement).
Champion a DevSecOps culture with ownership of security, reliability, deployability, and performance.
