Job summary

Proactive Appointments is seeking a Senior DevOps Systems Administrator in Woking, Surrey, operating on a hybrid model (1 day per month in the office). You will own challenging cloud and infrastructure projects across AWS and private clouds, focusing on secure, scalable environments and automation.

The role involves building CI/CD pipelines, implementing monitoring, and driving reliability and security improvements while collaborating with technical teams and clients to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience across DevOps, cloud infrastructure and systems administration.
• Comfort with AWS, infrastructure-as-code, automation, CI/CD and monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of networking and cloud security.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and support AWS and private cloud infrastructure.
• Architect and maintain robust hybrid cloud environments.
• Automate infrastructure and configuration using Terraform and Ansible.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Implement and improve monitoring and observability using Grafana, Prometheus and CloudWatch.
• Drive improvements in system reliability, performance, scalability and security.
• Manage IAM, networking, firewalls, VPNs and cloud security.
• Take ownership of complex infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Participate in the on-call rota and respond effectively to incidents.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards and best practices.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and clients to deliver effective technical solutions.
